SAN ISIDRO
San Isidro is a stylish and peaceful residential area north of Buenos Aires. Many of its grand houses and buildings date back to the 18th century and were the homes of Argentina’s aristocracy.
The region features excellent golf courses, including the nearby Jockey Club, a lively nautical community and one of the biggest racecourses in the Americas. Visitors can explore the historic center by foot, touring the neo-Gothic cathedral and the Juan Martín Pueyrredón History Museum. Then enjoy delicious menu options at a restaurant by the river with spectacular views across the River Plate.

You’ll find plenty of entertainment in San Isidro, too. There’s a lovely waterfront with sloping lawns extending right down to the Río de la Plata. Here, you can windsurf or sail (the hotel can arrange this for you) while the more bold can try kitesurfing or waterskiing on the widest river in the world. The river is also a lovely place for a stroll, a long bike ride or an afternoon of fishing.
Also, the weekend artesian market at the green square by the cathedral has a good selection of fine crafts in lots of individual stalls. San Isidro’s famed Hippodrome is a great place for a day at the races, too. Ask staff for directions or to help arrange tickets.
